the loop

Rachel here! So, basically one day I made my friend drive me all the way out to this cool place… just for churros… But it’s okay, because it was totally worth it! The place is called The Loop and it’s located in Westminster, which was about a 35-minute drive from my house if I remember correctly. I’d been wanting to go here for awhile because, well, churros in loop form just seem like such a fun and tasty idea! When we arrived, the place was small and there was a line going out the door. Luckily, PokemonGO had come out around that time and it kept us very entertained while we waited.

Once we got to the front of the line, we were met with an array of flavors and toppings to choose from. I decided on the chocolate glaze with fruity pebbles in vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and Oreos on top. As you can see, I went all out and my sweet tooth was very excited about it. My friend got a plain churro (lame) also in vanilla ice cream with rainbow sprinkles on top. They make all the churros and put all the toppings on right there in front of you as you wait. And although the place was on the smaller side, it was definitely cute and modern, and probably made with Instagram aesthetics in mind. Of course, I took a picture with my colorfully sweet churro in front of their cute indoor sign… And yes, I had to ask two girls if they would move out of the way…

Much to my friend’s dismay, it wasn’t eating time yet! I took a few more pictures with my churro outside that also showed off my outfit. I mean, we drove all that way, right? Then, it was finally time to see if these cinnamon-y treats were worth the wait. Now, I don’t know if my friend would agree, but I thought the uniquely designed churros were worth it, at least the one time. In my opinion, it was a pretty good churro, maybe a lot of sweetness to handle, but still a great foodie experience overall.

Since we were pretty close to Long Beach, we decided to stop there on our way back home. We went to the Belmont Shore pier which actually had a lot of people around even though it was a Sunday evening. Surprisingly, there was a ton of Pokemon at the pier and we definitely weren’t the only people walking around to catch some new water types. The pier was really just a long dock with lots of people fishing on it, so it didn’t take us that long to explore it and after catching all the new Pokemon we could, it was time to head home. In the end, even if he won’t admit it, I think my friend had just as good of a time as I did hunting for churros and Pokemon.
